Question Tail lights and middle console lights don't work

Hey,

I have a 2006 Grand Vitara. The other night I noticed that the center console lights wouldn't come on. I was told the next day by my father-in-law that my tail lights aren't working. Is this a fuse problem or a wiring problem? Help!?!

Have you checked the fuses yet? No way to tell unless a little investigation is done.

I checked all of the fuses under the hood and under the dash. None of them have blown.

Since two systems are at fault and in different fuses, check the ground or "earth" in the haynes manual.

On DC systems (car) the ground is the most common problem, corrosion, broken etc. At least as an electrician that's what I find most common.
