89 TBI or Carbi? (transition year, ww)

Car runs like crap cold.

bag = crap. ok. Sorry Thomas E.Crapper.

Tune up time?

I presume it a flaming fire ball from hell hot.? right?

cold starts:
1: tune up.
2: ECT is bad (out of calibration either way)
3:fuel pressure too high all the time, so cold its a pig and a rocket hot. (poor mans turbo)

is it fouling plugs.? black and or wet.

If you have checked the accelerator cable and fast idle air adjustment screw (throttle body or carb?) then check for carbon build up on throttle body butterfly holding it open. Should have asked first, any codes?

it must light up at key on , no start, if not , the lamp is bad or ECU is bad ,crazy.
then start the engine, then the lamp must go out.

tell answers to both questions. and we can proceed.
not guessing. the real deal there.

you forgot to anwer the questions in post 2.

only 2 choices , do it or pay some one.
here we help folks do it.

DYI city.
tell more.

89 8V kick.

you have an air like.
pinch all the hoses to the inake,
no cracks in PCV allowed.
no cranks in any vacuum line allowed.
no diaphragms allowed to leak, Dashpot, autotranny(yours is 5sp but others) includes brake booster.
IAC stuck open ,there are 2.

fast idle happens for 2 reasons.
1: air leaks to the plenum ( or some messed with the air controls (3). the butterfly , is to be never touched (throttle stop)
2: ECU is in failsafe or backup mode (limp home) do to gross error somewhere.

racings-or-highIdle
