Default Will an Esteem 16V replace a tracker 16v??

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows if a 96 Esteem 1.6l 16V engine can be used to replace a 98 Tracker 1.6l 16V? They look identical to me, but the wreckers say they won't cross. They are both still in the vehicles, so i can't see everything. Can't see Suzuki creating different 1.6l 16v for the diff models. Anyone any experience? Thanks in advance.

FWD to RWD ? that is radical: but...
engine mounts? can be vastly diff.

do you mean the whole thing , including the ECU .
on some they have completely diff. EFI , induction, harness, ECU, etc.

swaps can mean diff. thing to diff type people.
direct swap ( no)
only block?
block and head only?
or whole block and all (most) ACCESSORIES And induction.
some people are willing to make non std, motor mounts from scratch. and swap all harnesses and all electronics, a huge job.

everyone is diff.
the wrecker would love to sell you a esteem motor , and there lists are very good.

96E > 96K , same head. esteem to kick.
96E > 96K , block has diff. pn,

swap sounds so easy , just 4 little letters. but the devil is in the details.

i can tell you who knows, join
TeamSwift • Index page
they are are swap o holics. B16s too.

96 esteem block, 11200-58B00
98 tracker block 11200- 58B20 g16w111823 and higher,
or it uses block xxxxx 62G20
not sure the diff there.

best i can do and im no swap expert.

but this nfo can be very helpful to people needed a new block.
it opens up a wide door, no?

good luck finding a block.

Engine mountings are the same. You need to swap the oil pan and pick up pipe. The intake and exhaust manifolds from the Track/Kick must be used. The camshaft may need to be replaced depending on the dizzy drive.

Thank you for your response. I am not intending to turn the tracker into a fwd. I am wondering if the engine can be used in the tracker, and am of course prepared to swap manifolds, etc as necessary as long as the basic long block doesn't have any massive differences. Thanks guys, i think that i will be safe to use the esteem engine, even a cam change isn't a big deal. My other option is rebuild the tracker engine, it uses a bit of oil and has a burnt valve, but the esteem is sitting beside it, with a 100% strong engine in it. Still not sure why the wrecker interchange says no-go, but i'm sure i will find out I fear no suzuki, but i'm mostly a 3cyl guy!
