Hi , i whant to install a remote starter in my Suzuki Sidekick 1992 , 1.6L , 16 Valves , on the remote starter module i have a wire going to the Tach signal , i'm trying to find it for about 3 days , i never find it , please someone can tell me were to find it ? where is this Tach signal in the car , what's plug ? and what's the fire color ?
1: some cars have a tach and others do not. i think its the 4wd models that have it on the instrument panels gauge set.
tell your exact car make and model can really help here.
like this:
Sidekick JLX 1992 16valves, 4wd, 5speed, 4 doors. <see this tells me what harnesses your car has, and with that nfo, the answers get way more accurate, even exact colors of wires and where they are routed.
if it does have a tacho , you can connect to pin 2 of the noise supressor filter module.
it is a brown wire ( 3 pins, brown/white ignitor, black/green = ground, and solid brown is tach).
if this kills your tacho then your remove is overloading the tacho.
some years/engine are are wired different
(if it were mine and the above did not work I would make a Tach buffer circuit to protect my cas and ECU)
alternate connections: ( warning Tech Geek talk, the devils in the details)
the orange wire to the ignitor can do it or the white wire from the CAS.
CAS pulses for every TDC. 5 vdc square wave.
Ignitor pulses creat the spark and the timing advance too. and is a weaker signal.
so i think CAS is the superior signal ( i have scope photos if you want to see em)
the white wire is on the Dizzy connector.
if you tie this remote starter to it, and this kills your CAS (cam angle sensor) signal this means that you are overloading the CAS line.
the trick is to add a resistor in series with said line unit both work.
id start with 1k resistor. if can starts and runs and remote works then ok.
if engine acts up then increase resistor value, if remote only acts up , then decrease it.
there is no universal standard for the impedance of any CAS circuit ! , that is the reason for this complexity.
on my ECU the CAS is pulled up to 12v battey by 4500ohms resistor.
You car was designed to operate the Engine and the factory tach, not some other (unknown device)
if you shunt this CAS line to ground too much, the engine will never start or run.
a well designed remote would use a high impedance mos transistor to do this, (not all do this)
tell exact car and I will tell exact connection points,
cheers
PS: i can make it work but you might have to experiment a tad.

warning, if the tacho in put to the remote starting device is not working correctly
you will be wrecking the start or starter pinion or worse the flywheel ring gear.
I recommend having it installed by a professional .
why: if car starts and the RS device fails to detect it, then the starter keeps running.
bad news , then results.
cheers

Thank's for all , i found why my remote starter don't work , the module it programed for manual trasmision , and my car it automatic , a new programation in automatic mode solve my problem , thank's for fast reply , kiss you all
