Default Problem with Low Beam

Hi,

I have a 93 4door JX. the day time running lights and low beam stopped working after a week end of camping. High Beam still works witch i use everynight. The day time running light and low beam no longer works. I checked the fuse and replaced the bulb but no luck. btw i did check the old lamp and it was not burned out either.

Is there anything else i can check?

Thanks,
Ryan

Here's what I would do. . . .

First, make sure that all fuses are not blown (I'll wager sometimes DRL and low beams have a different circuit- if that's the case either fuse could be blown) and then,

Check and make sure that your unblown fuse has power going to it by attaching one lead of multimeter to ground and touching the metal pieces on the back of the fuse (do this with switch on).

If fuses are intact and getting power. . . and your headlights are okay then it's possible that your dimmer switch is bad. I've seen foot dimmer switches go bad on the trucks where I work all the time. . . .

Save the switch for last because if it is anything like mine (on the column), I'd imagine that it'd be a bear to replace. You can test it in the vehicle by checking resistance. . . . . . I doubt that the dimmer is bad, but it is possible.

Good luck.

I am at work and can't check my manual but is there a relay
in the engine compartment that may have gone bad.
