Default Supercharging escudo 1995

Hey,

Im thinking about supercharging my truck specs are:
1995
1600
16valve
k&N air intake
extractors
6 point roll cage
rear lsd
short shift kit
kumos
lifted
etc

Im thinking a small supercharger from the toyota 4age.(around 6psi) hopefully jus bolting it up to the aircon bracket and running a belt, then feading the charged air up through a subaru top mount intercooler and into the intake.
Just wanting feed back on if i need to run bigger injectors/fuel pump and if the ecu can handle it. Also wounding if doulbling the head gasket would bring more trouble then jus leaving a single?

Yeah, I'd love to shove a small blower on the motor for a little more pep, but after looking into it, it's more trouble than it's worth. To begin with, the engine already "detonates lightly" with regular fuel and correctly set timing; a denser air/fuel charge would greatly exacerbate that problem. Your idea about raising the deck height to reduce the compression ratio is going in the right direction, but doesn't work by doubling the gaskets. This would cause serious problems. Then there's the problem of timing controls (and where to get them), and fuel enrichment (without restorting to shunting or overriding). Not to mention destruction of the transmission (especially the automatic). Also, you need to make that package flow well - from intake to exhaust. Lot's $$$ - not much gain = headache (IMO).

you could megasquirt it, (MS2V3), ($250 starting)
now with custom ecu you are free to set it all, where you want.
the injectors, i do not have the spec on the stock ones.
if you cant find it , you can send one to witchhunter.com for cleaning $18 and the sheet that comes back is full spec.

now pump that (no pun) into the Required fuel calc at MSquirt web site and behold the answer.
RQ is the maximum fuel used under full boost, in your case.

really, the cost is a very expensive turbo, and the MS is cheap.
so all the money goes for dyno time.
no matter if you do it the correct and safe way with a real ecu or with a piggy back , you still have to tune it for no boost , and the full boost.
remember the turbo wrecks the no boost volumetric efficiency so must be re-tuned for that ,too.
keeping the stock ecu is madness, as no man alive ,can tell you when or what stock ECU will do next ,under boost. no one.
so it all boils down to tuning costs.
most likely 2 times the hardware.

but do not let me dissuade you, there are many junk yard turbo projects that are successful, google that for fun !
but in that case , its all throw away , any way.
cheers.

happy boosting.

if at anytime the plan fails under boost and it goes lean, say goodbye to engine.
you also need that fancy knock detector as a fail safe independent device so if something goes wrong , it may save the farm.

all this and more , in jeff hartmans new book, "tuning for speed or economy".
sold at all book stores.
best book i have ever read, on engines and i have a large collection.

cheers.

Theres a couple of people running turbocharged 16Vs. A supercharger won't be a great deal different in terms of fuelling requirements. The stock ECU can be run with bigger injectors and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. The MAF sensor can supposedly handle up to around 7psi of boost. If its an auto then you will need to modify the modulator setup. To get the most out of it you will need a custom ECU.
What mileage has your engine done? I wouldn't recommend any kind of tuning on an old engine, I've seen a few blocks torn asunder by errant conrods.

It shouldn't detonate, what octane is your 'regular' fuel?

What will be HP advantage if you supercharge this 1,6 engine?
Is not better to swap engine using some stock one with better specification?
possibly cost will be lower and engine will not receive such, adittional pressure.
That is way how we do that here in Poland... better change than upgrade something what have capacity of three bottles of beer
Surely I am not specialist... correct me if I am wrong.
