Default Airlock

Is there a specific way to get rid of air lock on a 1992 Suzuki sidekick or should I just idle it with the radiator cap off. I ran it for a while with the cap off but it is still over heating, the temperature gauge is working properly, so I know it is not malfunctioning. People keep telling me its probably air locked or head gasket but I don't have any symptoms of a bad head gasket. So does anyone know of how to get rid of airlock, Any help would be great Thanks.

you forgot to say 16v or v8 valves?
and what you did before air got in to water jackets.
are you just overheating and wondering why?

park car up hill, cold engine.

new thermostat, did you put the sensor side down (spring and wax pellat side)
did you put the bleed hole forward on the stat so it can burb.

worse case ( not needed really) but...
if you really had air in there, you could just remove the STAT and fill it up to full, then
put back the stat, then then fill rad the rest of way. then it would in fact be 99% free of air, Stat is highest point , besides RAD.
this car is not every known to hold air, but that tiny bleed hole is important.

Now my jeep thats another matter.
talk to kick owners most people generalize and that dont help much on your car.
does this help ?
