Default constant clunking sound while driving?

my 92 sidekick makes a constant clunking sound while driving and it gets faster when I drive faster. If i press the brakes it doesn't change. If I go on bumps it does not change. Any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks for you help

Could be many things... try driving in 4x4 and see if it does anything. I would say your HUBS to take a guess are they manual or auto?

Place this in your comment if you want help: YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, ENGINE, TRANS, MILEAGE, AUTO/MANUAL HUB(if 4x4)

Sidetracked (clever!),

Can you describe the location of the clunking?
Is the clunking aggravated by tar strips or other
bumps on the road?

Increasing frequency with increasing speed, could indicate...
wheels/tires
engine
drivetrain
and our "little friend who never goes away", the speedometer.

So,

Does the clunking _only_ occur when the vehicle is in motion?
That could rule out the engine.

I'd get up to speed and turn the engine off to see if it does it when just coasting. Tracka96

It is not coming from the engine, on smooth or bumpy roads, it is the same sound. The sound increases as I increase the speed of my car.

Sounds familiar... I thought it was coming from the tranny, but opened door slightly, then find out its the rear wheel bearing.

Thanks everyone for your help! How much did the rear wheel bearing cost to fix?

Please wear your seat belt when you lean out of the door! I fell out of mine one time

I wasn't going but 5mph, so I did not get hurt.

God when I had a Wrangler I did some of the stupidest things of my life, not limited to getting out of the Jeep @ 50 MPH to walk on the running boards while steering from the outside usually I had passengers too. IDIOT that I was.

I almost fell out of it once while 4 wheeling on an angle, I would have been run over had I not held on, I have a Guardian Angel watching over me, Thankfully i've become much smarter since my late teenage & early 20's & lived to tell about it, Still doesn't make it right.....Just thinking about makes me fell dumb & gives me an uneasy feeling.
