8v 1.6, 4x4, I had done a lot of changes and I keep the record, once I got up to 32, but super coil, hi perf. wires, iridium sparks, air intake bigger, exaust 2 inc., super flow muf., stock and bigger tires (23 to 32psi test), all sensors working good, rebuilt eng. with stock parts, made not big difference, but the jump to better was changing the tranny and dif. oils(normal one). A cousing of mine with a Toyota 4R, told me he got the best MPG with syntetic oil so I may try it later. There is a post that changing the fan clutch to an electrical one will give you a lot of MPG, I did change once a SD33 Diesel(3200)engine from fix to fan clutch and I got a lot of power out of it, noted in the max. speed able to reach on a strait street up hill, so it may help.

I am running one tire size bigger than the stock Tracker size, and tested my speed with my friends GPS system, its right on the spedo.

I get about 25mpg/us litre. Although its decreased to about 22 with my cracked exhaust manifold. I am looking to buy a new one; but don't want to pay $250. I was going to put some muffler sealing graphite over it for time being. Anyone know were to find some good ones?

on my 89 2 door which has a 8v and 3 speed auto and stock tiers , i get right at 30 .
bought a set of the helo green plugs and it bumped it to 32 . more power to . you can feel it .
that diffrence was compared with a new set of NGK's properly gapped .
since i always have my GPS on for work, there is a good chance my speedo is correct .
now if i take the soft top off . BAM!!! my MPG drop to 27 -29
i also try to keep the tac under 4 grand . normaly doing 65 of the freeway will keep the rpms under that .
i just smile away at the folks who pass me at 85 and higher . just smile and wave when you pass the gas station they are sitting at . maybe give alittl hit of the horn with the wave . Its a nice touch

Another satisfied Green Plug customer

Top down with windows up I've seen a slight drop depending on head winds. Windows down... bit more drop.

Let em pass ya... Freeway speeds here are 60 or 70mph depending. I do the speed limit and keep right. They leave me alone. I do notice that I don't get the 'respect' when driving the Tracker vs driving the Hemi Ram though

with the case in with my kick . those MPG are readings taken over 3 months .
6 weeks with one set up and other 6 with the other set up
thats filling up 3 times a week , basically every 3 days.

I would also agree with JT here , the older engines don’t have the tolerances of engines built today . i only use 10/40 in my 8v .
i would also agree that the only way you can get a reasonable reading is to try your best to do everything the same . fill up the same , drive the same and be driving in the same conditions .
change any of that and it will effect your reading .

thats one of the problems i think with MPG ratings on many newer vehicles. The tests were done on a set vehicle , driven a set way . This doesn’t mean your vehicle will get that with the way you drive or the location you drive

The end result is however whats important . IE how many miles will your car go on one tank of gas . The better you keep your numbers the better idea you will have of what you are getting .

The North American rubber companies kept radial tires out of this country for 50+ years. The tobacco industry told us that smoking would relax us and aid in digestion. The oil companies want to look like they support other energy sources while blaming speculators for high oil/fuel prices. One side of the government condemns smoking while the other side subsidizes tobacco growers. The AMA would have you believe that vitamins, minerals and homeopathic remedies are evil.

I've read the reports, tried many things that supposedly 'do not work' and have come to the conclusion, test it for yourself. Everyone seems to be an expert but knowone really knows.

and a few years (2) later , Bridgestone tire , sold me 4 steel belt radials.
I've run them every day of my driving life. 50 years huh?
A Tale of Two Tires - Classic Car Articals
the very first Radials were junk; they delaminated at speed! (see: Firestone) ( no, this wasnt the good old days)
The didn’t come into their own until 1968. Here and not much before that in Europe.
Except one some French cars, and was tried on a 1960 Ford Falcon that had to be modified to make them work correctly , steering was bad and so was rough ride.
Wiki it.

Google who bought G.F. Goodrich at that time.
Tobacco warnings started in :1966 see data at end:
anyone with any sense can see what you are sucking into your lungs, TAR and Carbon Monoxide and a host of very nasty filth. do you need government to wake you (collective you) up?

AMA;I believe their gripe is having some local clown recommending something useless to some poor sick person that needs real medical care.
Lets say you have Tuberculoses and you get vitamins from local , because he says this will make you feel better. Now lets say he give it to you.
Buy what you want, take what you want.
But practicing medicine with out a license, will get you in trouble. (Cheers to that)

OIL: (ouch again)
each day I get up , i pray that the oil companies (and the people the process it and deliver it ) all are successful and can offer it to me at any (!) cost and I do not have to wait in line and do not see all the stations closed or have to ration.
They are OIL companies, not Corn growers. But I guess you didn’t study what Chevron is doing , they are doing the BioAlgy thing.

Equal protection under the law: They have to subsidies all growers, if they apply.
Yes, the government is stupid, and many laws make them that way. (one hand , doing one thing, the other something else, what's new)
46 Senators vote for the corn lobby , I dought that will ever change soon.

If you dwell on it too much it will make you crazy. Best is to just ignore them.
I don’t know about you , but all my retirement investments (most 401ks) have Oil at the top of the list. Don’t you? (most people do)
Drugs, banks, both make more money per dollar invested ,than oil. (after tax dollars, real ! earnings)

They bring home the bacon, so what’s your gripe?
No one, has a birth right to free or cheap liquid energy.

It won’t get better soon. (Watch UK with 60million citizens and PEAK North Sea Oil and the ending of OIL exports ! ouch !)

The real issues is , what will be the next countries, that stop exporting because the need to , or want to. This is called the Export Land model. "ELM" What that, it will change the world we live in. ( i print it out ever 30 days, and ponder it) Most oil is Nationalized and few people understand that. ( NOT PUBLIC )

IMHO, cheers. jerry

Put some of this on The Oil drum.
The Oil Drum | Discussions about Energy and Our Future

but watch out , they have hard cold facts.

colors red added by me ,to show how clear they were in 1966.
Before that day , everyone called them Coffin nails. I wonder why?
I knew I'd get a post out of you.
