Default 1995 Tracker running ROUGH! help me!

I have a 1995 Tracker with 16 valve 1.6 MPI. This thing is running bad, it will start but has no power. Idles around 400 rpm, if I give it gas it will rev but does not improve. Acts as if it is out of time, I had to advance the timing just to get enough power to get it home. I put new cap and button, plugs and wires with no improvement, I did unplug the MAF while it was running and noticed a slight improvement. I checked the catalytic converter to see if it was clogged but disconnecting the exhaust and nothing changed. I disconnected the o2 sensor with no improvement, I was thinking maybe a vacuum leak but I couldn't find anything. No check engine light on, I will try anything. Please help!!

Sounds like a lose crank pulley. Try a new key and torquing to 90 lbs.

I wouldn't drive it at all anymore till you pull that timing belt drive pulley (17MM bolt, usually hard to remove) and look at the drank keyway. Sounds like it could possibly be bad enough to let go and wreck your engine. (Valves and pistons collide) Lots of info on this forum on this matter. Tracka96

( key way , YES ! always on any new belt or timing issues)

or just hope , it is just another slipped timing belt.
but dont drive it and moving the dizzy timing , un-did the only NATURAL protection the poor engine has.
its talking, to you , listen and save the engine.

if last belt was past 80k-100k , your are on barrowed time anyway.

timing belt swap

with new 16v only page, check it out..
if you see an error , tell me.

special thankyou to silentbob for FANTASTIC PHOTOGRAPHY of cam wheels !

pump pressure next.
(could be just a bad fuel filter)
if filter new, then measure the pressure,
on 16v can be tricky to measure but can be done. at fuel rail.
specs are here.

#2 cylinder has no compression, so I am going to tear the engine down and do a total rebuild. I could almost guarantee that it is a valve issue, but once I have the engine tore down that far I might as well go ahead and finish the job. Thanks for the help though. Any tips for the tear down or rebuild would be very helpful.
