Default Basket Case

I had a 95 geo Tracker with 27,XXX actual miles given to me, the previous owner said it had sat for 5-6 yrs. He had took the throttle body off and sent it somewhere to have it cleaned. Anyway after new plugs, wires, cap button, he still couldn't get it to run. So he started to disassemble the front of the engine to replace the timing belt. This is where I come in. The belt is off and the engine has been rotated, the cam gear is off ??? Anyway this cam gear has two dowel pin slots and three timing marks. Which one do I use? I have a book that doesn't give no illustrations of this style gear. I need help getting this spot back together before I can attempt to diagnose the starting/running problem. Can anyone give me some good advice and no I'm not taking it to the junk yard. It's too good of shape for a somewhat of a minor problem.

you are correct the dowel pin is very confusing but i have a picture of the thing.
here.
how-to-find-EFI-parts

see last photo i made, shows the REAL KEY is pointing DOWN !!!
do not look at the other key slot or the false rim mark at 5pm ( cute huh?)
they changed gears from 91 to 95 , to add even more confusion.

6 years.
first do not try to run it.
pull the tank, drain it first. and take it to any Radiator shop and say make like new.
you do not want all the carp that is in there , to ever hit the injector.

car will never run again correctly. (motorcycle and boat people all know this to be true)
clean fuel is manditory on EFI:

new tank, chean the fuel pump and consider a new one, 5 gallons gas, new filter,
then let pump push gas into bucket , connected somehow ? at gas fitting behind
the TB gas port ( TB disconnected ).

key on 3 seconds , off , repeat 3 times. (ecu gives only 3 seconds FP enable)
no start just key on.
now connect gas line to TB.

if injector clogs, it can be cleaned for $20 , ask me where. Professionals.

keep us posted.

cheers

Also note that there is a screen type filter around the injector itself. Its not very big and therefore clogs easily if any crud does get past the main filter. If you do remove the injector, fit a new O ring.

the injector screen is reported as 10 microns. tiny.

1/2 dia, of human hair .

the tank will be coated with varnish and will just keep clogging things.
