Default A/C trouble

I have a 1990 geo tracker , 8 valve automatic, hardtop. I finally have it running and on the road but every once in a while I would like to have some A/C. It has factory A/C and had to change out the compressor and dryer. It blows cold air intermittely. Cold then hot, then cold. Any ideas what this might be. I have a ranger and it was a switch that had to be changed. Hoping it is something simple like the ranger. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

what is a ranger?

on a 90 the brains of the AC amp are really simple.
so my 91 is vastly more complex as are newer
air-conditioner-repair

but yoursi has only this.
see next post.

you , sounds like the pressure switch flipping do to too much pressure or too little.
or the freezing of the evaporator.

Default tests

a/c

first when the AC stops blowing cold, did the compressor clutch just before
disengage ( you can see it do that, by looking.)
see end of clutch,on compressor ,if that is moving the clutch is locked.

finding that fact is #1 , nothing else matters.
keeping power to the red and yellow wire pair is important.
