Default Lights on a hardtop

Do you think i could drill holes into a hardtop to put off-road lights right onto the hard top without a light bar or do you think the material would crack? I wa thinking about getting 4 http://www.kchilites.com/store/images/238.gif for the top of the hardtop.

what do you think? bad/stupid/ugly idea?

IN my past, I worked for a marina and did alot of installing of gear on fiberglass boats. ALL mounting points were in areas that had been reinforced with wood in the manufacturing process. I would not mount them in the in a fiberglass hardtop because of stress, plus you would have to unplug them to take your top off.

It can be done, I've done a few myself actually. you would have to use rubber gaskets & a foam in a can type of insulation for support against leaks & vibrations. I never used a wood block for support mainly because the vibration isn't that great. If you do the above correctly u will be fine.

The connects can be done with easy off male female connectors, you can tie all the lights into one line & run the connections though and along the winshield, than you can make a track with a simple piece of adesive stripping that can be bought in home depot to hide the wires along the inside of the roof that come from the lights. Than get some rubber caps that you can glue to the bottom of the lights that have the bolts coming though, this is a must as it can be a safety issue if you roll over or have an accident and are not wearing a seat belt, one those could go right though ur head, I used black hand balls on one of my instalations, cut them in half use a lil silicone adhesive & u r good to go.

It's all in the details.

Sounds good, but I will still look for something that doesn't require me drilling holes into my top.
