If you prefer a fuel composition sensor (FCS) for your E85 conversion, you are not restricted to the latest and most expensive FCS. The MegaManual E85 webpage (Flex Fuel with MegaSquirt) states:

“Initial testing has been done with the GM fuel composition sensor part number #12570260, which is their latest version of the flexible fuel sensor. The list price is somewhere around $500 (!), a few online parts places has these for $360 or so. However, if you do a search on eBay for "flex fuel", there is a sensor from seller Medimars, who is offering brand new GM sensors (number #12568450, for a 2001 S-15 truck) for $50.00 plus shipping. It operates the same as the other part number sensor. This latter number has been discontinued by GM, replaced by the former number for most vehicles.”

I hope that you can find the FCS #12568450 for a reasonable price. Good luck!

thank you ! . for PN;'s I have friends looking for those.

no ethanol here.
the problem really, is its future.
there is no guarantee of its availability ,now or ever. ( less than or = $ to Gas or Diesel)
it is 100% politically enabled product. (it cant stand on its own, with out BIG GOV and our taxes) 1.5:1 yields are pathetic.

for $500 , i could buy that even nicer, Lean Burn Cat from Honda/toyota (used in these hybrids)
and run lean burn and save more than any ethanol solution. (and be green)

there are lots of ways to spend $500 , one can put a huge tank in the back yard.
holding a 1 year supply of Diesel fuel ( two other mech. at work have that and more adding now)
Here is my best flex fuel solution,

Have 3 cars and 1, 200cc-300cc motorcycle.
1 gas, ODD plates.
1 gas , Even plates.
1 Diesel car, ( flash , new VWs diesels now at the dealers)
1 gas motorcycle that can use #1 or #2 as a gas station.
I did this both times, last embargo. (heavy on MC ! XL250 i had.)
issues: (past and future)
had thieves at work cut my gas line to my motorcycle and drain it.
had thieves , punch holes in gas tank with ice pick, (locking gas caps stops few)
the only way to survive is redundancy and HIGH MPG.

IMHO Flex fuel Enn (nn=%) is only good when the times are good and the politics is blind./corrupted.
46 senators and nothing else keep those subsidies going.
that could all change in NOV.

that has nothing to do with technology or engineering.

I put my hopes on ,
YouTube - Vertical Algae biofuel Growing (see description and invest)

Hope , support and help.
