Default Spot lights on a 96 vitara 2.0 v6

Hi all, Could any one tell me how to wire spot lights into the high beam on my suzuki vitara. I have had a go but for some reason all the wires going to the main headlight are live (was all that about) Very confused Please help me if you can.

The lights are switched on the ground side so you need to see which of the wires goes to ground when main beam is switched on. One side of the relay coil is wired to 12V, the other side is wired to the main beam wire.
The relay contacts are wired one side to 12V though a fuse, the other side to the spots, the spots are then grounded to chassis.

ground = body/earth/0V/chassis/negative. 4 prongs is correct, the relay body doesn't have to be earthed.

um, why dont you just use a toggle in one of the blank dash spots to the left (or right) of the stearing wheel like everyone else???
