Default Replacing left shaft... need help

I finally got the rear left shaft with the replacement bearing... now seems the bearing doesn't sit right on where it's supposed to sit. Either the shaft end is damaged, or the bearing still needs to go in a little further towards the shaft end? Any way to find out if bearing is positioned right? Or do I need to pound it in place? Its my JLX 93'...

pound scares me,
we use a press, and always saves the part from damage.

if you shoot photos it helps.

if the bearing spun, it could have over heated the rear axle end, this end is heat treated and if that gets undone ( called anealing) softening of the metal , it will cause the axle to break at an inopertune moment, usually under heavy load.

if there damage viewable , or a blueing color shift to the metal. watch out.

used axle in the wreckers , is cheap.

I have installed the shaft... up here, we have make do with what we have, in other words, had to inspect the grooves on the shaft end, was pounded.. so had to do the same to intall it. I had to do a small filing on the ends, since it wouldn't fit.
Now gotta find a brake line for the left, it's leaking, since I had to cut it.. I'll have to resort to 'make do with what I have'... thinking of soldering, if the line is copper? Made a coupling, from Coleman stove pump. Fits right in, but couldn't find the 'quick' fix; quick metal...
