I took the decals off mine and cleaned the areas. Even after cleaning, from an angle I could see the outline of the decals. I figured that the decals had been applied at the factory before the clearcoat was sprayed on. I hated the " colorful" Tracker decals and that is why I removed them. I ended up buying 3 black 4X4 decals and put them over the area where the OEM decals were.
i think this is because the paint has ware and tear, the decal "saved" the paint under it. so its shinny
safest is , simple paint thinner.
will not hurt paint and desolves the glue. same for bumper stickers. too.
heat gun is best (heat shrink gun) best to remove sickers.
and will all most of the glue to go with it.....
alcohol will not work. how ever is best to clean plastic , as many solvents (most) can hurt plastic.
an the above are good to googone, etc but some can be harsh on some weaker paints.
thanks jtgh. ill probably use paint thinner, for the decals/stickers, i didnt have a heat gun... but i used a hair dryer, it worked pretty well. but ill try to use paint thinner in the spring when i can actually clean my car
