I'm always trying to improve my gas mileage since I deliver papers out my BIG RED. So aside from the basic tune up stuff for the trucks I was more interested in any modifications such as Waste Veggie Oil or Hydrogen power.
Is there any way to make the engine explode the veggie oil without using diesel's hotter engine?
also
Are there any hydrogen mods or air intake mods that are not completely BS?
(I know hydrogen power exsists but I wanna make sure I'm not buying a $500 mason jar with wires)

All of the conversions seem a bit pricey. I'm getting 37 hiway by using halo plugs from greenplugs.com & adding ca40direct,com to each fill up, 32 psi in 205/70R-15 stock Goodyears and cruise control at 70 mph. Slightly better at 60 mph.
One of my daughters spent 16k on an '06 Diesel Jetta. She gets 50 hiway, 35 city/hiway combined. Nice ride too.

It's all in the tune up and it's not easy being green.

Wow, that's very impressive!
How much difference did those Halo plugs make? I looked at their site, but I tend to take manufactures' claims with a grain of salt.

Prior to the Halo's or the ca40, 27-28 hiway. With ca40, 32'ish. Still great improvement. These claims about Halo's will vary like the claims with ca40. Halo's have been around for many years. I used them in my '78 280Z but went the performance angle in those days. They were made in Europe then and now. I wanted to try the plugs again 1st in a 4 banger before buying 16 for the Hemi. Being that most improvement is proportional, and I've been using the ca40 for over a year in the Hemi with about a 1-2mpg increase, another 1-2mpg with the Halo's and 20% less harmful emissions is fine by me.
I had a pro install mine. Dino's here in the NW. The Green Plug guys will answer any questions or concerns. And, I have no idea if they have endorsed any out of area mechanics. None are listed. Good Luck!

There's the electric cooling fan conversion which might work. It's been discussed in a thread here.
I did the fan conversion for two reasons. 1. So I would not sling water up on the engine when creek crossing and 2. to remove the turning mass and weight from the water pump. The electric fan only switches on when I idle for a while. I would guess that it also helps with MPG & HP, but just a little
the plugs work , only when the old plugs were garbage.
apples to apples, try new ngks with new magic plugs.
then compare them
...
If the Halos weren't so expensive I'd try a comparison with the new plugs I just installed. $9 + shipping and WA st sales tax makes them hard to gamble on. I'd sure like to try them though.

MPG. Yes. Good stuff.
I put an xfi camshaft in a geo metro with good mileage results. Is there a camshaft regrind for a 1.6L that would help us with our trackers?
City of Little Rock, AR
One of the first organizations to experience the benefits of the LSG Halo Spark Plug was the City of Little Rock, Arkansas. Darryl Syler, the city's Fleet Maintenance Manager, conducted a blind trial on 12 of the city's Police Fleet vehicles to see how the Halo would perform. When the results were in, the City of Little Rock concluded that the Halo spark plugs improved their fuel economy by an average of 11.5%. Following the success of the trial, the city decided to convert its entire gasoline-powered fleet to the Halo Spark Plug. Thanks to the efforts of Mr. Syler and his team in the Fleet Maintenance Department, the City of Little Rock will save approximately $225,000 annually on their fuel costs and contribute to a cleaner environment by becoming a greener fleet.
