Default 94 sidekick

I just got a 94 sidekick with 132,000 miles. I jumped 2 and 3 and my cel did not flash. I then found my ses switch and flicked it and then jumped 2 and 3 and my cel did not blink. why is this, it runs ok, I went to camp and back put 300 miles on it it ran pretty good. what is the cause for it not blinking? will I pass PA emissions?

Does your CEL come on when you just turn the key on without starting the car? In other words, is there a light bulb in there? Tracka96

is the lamp on at key on , no start. that is the 1st step.
if that fails replace lamp, & re-seat speedo wire plug and or ecu plug with battery term minus disconnected.

the ECU has a limphome chip, car will run fine , but it will have loss of power.
and it will burn lots of gas. as low as 15mpg.
that is the primary purpose, of this feature, called FAILSAFE by Suzuki.

Fails safe , retards the ignition timing, and also sometimes refuses to control idle.

on never cars the redundant cam and cranks sensors can fail and car will run
on all cars , many of the senors can be mimiced,
for example if a MAF fails, software tries to mimic the MAF using the TPS.
the newer the car the more of these features exist.

they want the car to still drive so you can get into the dealer shop so they can sell you something REAL expensive, see?

its a communist plot. (or oil companies some how cause this)

you confuse me, i thought you said the CEL lamp was out, Key On, NO START.

if the lamp comes on while driving , you need to pull the codes.

the key on lamp on , is just a lamp test and tells you the ECU is ALIVE and not off in lala land.
then while driving if it comes on, you can pull the codes.
if you pull battery power or the dome fuse all DTC fails are erased.
then later the lamp CEL will come back on, then place the jumper before or after starting and the codes will flash out , 12 is good code .
it is possible to get a code like 51 and 23 in succession.

that is how she works.

hope that helps you.

cheers.
