Default New Guy Here, Just checking in!!

Hey I am new, I recently discovered the Tracker and it just really appeals to me, I am currently looking for a 1995-1997 one 5 Speed 4X4 if possible. Great forum and if you guys could point out some Technical specs and what to look out for that would be great.

Thanks again for the site, I am currently checking Craigs list and eBay.

I recently bought a 97 X-90 (same bones as the Sidekick/Tracker). The SES (Service Engine Soon) light was on, but I got a really good deal so I bought it anyway. The vehicle failed the emissions test with a P0400 code. But after some research I learned that this is pretty common and can usually be easily fixed by cleaning the EGR passageway (especially one particular 90-degree turn in the EGR passageway), which I will probably get to in the next few weeks. Anyhow, if you find a nice Tracker that you like and SES light is on, just be aware that it might not necessarily be a huge financial problem; could be a simple fix. You might also consider taking an OBD code reader (Harbor Freight sells them cheap) with you when you go to check out a Tracker for sale.

Well, good luck in your search for a Tracker. The 96-98 are my favorite years for the Tracker; I've always though those years had the best front-end styling.

I want a 95 with a 16V motor. I REALLY like the bar on the passenger side dash board. IDK why, just want it, looks different, Vettes used to have them. I must have the 16V motor, just wish it was DOHC and not SOHC but whatever.

Must be 5 Speed, IDK how you guys deal with a 3SPEED or even the 4 speed, gotta be a 5 Speed and must be 4WD so I can take it on the beach.

How are these things on the sand/beach? How much do you have to lower the tire pressure?

Lemy know if you guys can find one. I have only found very high mileage, nothing too low except 2wd of auto, yuck.

My 84 Montero had one of those. During the test drive, the salesman told me it was called the "Oh $hit!" bar.
