I just bought my [wife's] 95 Sidekick soft top last week. Coming home from Portland with a strong tailwind we got 25 MPG. I would like to get more.
I have 16 valve 1.6. 5 speed.
I plan on changing plugs & wires soon, hopefully tomorrow.

I have a 91 Tracker w/93,XXX miles 1.6, 8v 5spd 4x4 hardtop with A/C and no P/S yet...lol. Just installed a new T-belt,Cam seal,Crank seal, plugs, wires and V/C gasket. Also serviced the coolant, differential, tranny and trans. case fluid. As of now I'm getting about 22mpg and I'm not to happy with the numbers but a new T-stat and coolant temp. sensor is gonna be installed this weekend, so well see what happens.
My 91 Honda Civic is TBI as well and is an Auto. with 4 doors and all stock. She gets about 30-35mpg's and thats where I would like to get the Tracker to be at.
Now....my 06 Lancer Evo is beast on the road and she is still fuel efficient if I dont boost up too much when ever I do drive it. She gets about 25-28mpg's when I drive normally but half the time I'm on the throttle because this baby picks up so fast and nice and on top of that she handles like a champ since she's rally inspired. She's pushing about 302 HP and 294 TRQ to the wheel and still getting good mpg's......you can't beat that for a turbo charged car.

Reason: forgot auto hubs even though in my sig
I think all these numbers are giving us a good data base to judge by for our Trackers. Thanks everybody. I am going to pump up the tires and get some Halo Plugs and see what that does. Keep the info coming in.
Every time you stop, all the energy you put into the car getting it moving is turned into heat and thrown away. I try to anticipate stoplights and coast up to them even if it means slowing down the cars behind me a bit (I am saving them gas too). Electric cars can recover some but not all of this energy, but you can only recharge a battery so fast. Adding a energy storage device like a flywheel or capacitors to store electricity would help too. If you could store enough energy stoppping to get the car back from 0-30 you could save a lot of gas in town. In particular, cabs, busses and delivery vehicles could save. I am surprised UPS isn't doing something like this.
I bought this car one month ago. Very little to fix up and register. It's going very well. New tyres and rego and it was on the road. 93 vitara 224,000 kilometres and nothing wrong with the engine. 26 mpg around town and 31 on the highway as long as it's kept around 100 KM/Hour, 60 MPH. Car is in very good condition for it's age and has been faultless on a couple of 4wd trips. Paid $AU2000.00.
92 Geo Tracker - 8V, 5spd, all stock except for 2" spacer lift and I cut some holes in the breather box to aid in air flow. 80% highway 20% city driving. I get a consistant 30 mpg. This morning I filled up with 8.69g and the trip meter was at 269 miles (= 30.96mpg)
I drive a 1990 Sidekick, it has 235/75R15 AT tires, 8v engine with a 5 spd.
I'm not sure of the gas mileage but I get 200 kms per 1/2 a tank. I drive offroad and on pavement, and I stay within the posted speed limits.
'92 Tracker tin top 4x4. bone stock. 30 mpg in rural driving (<55 mph). 148k miles and runs like new (after new caps in the cpu haha). I have regular highway tires inflated to max mfg. rated pressure. I'm hoping to get 200k miles out of this thing before I have to rebuild the motor.
