Default Sound System Help: Sub & Rear Speakers?

Hi Guys,
I have recently bought a '90 Wideboy as my first car and hope to be on the road soon!
One of my priorities is getting some decent sound in it!

Currently it has just one completely nackered speaker in the passenger door!

I need to install a head unit and there is only a permanent live feed and a negative coming out of the dash, I was wondering if anyone has any reccomendations as to what is simple and suitable to splice for a switched feed to the unit to save me sitting out there and testing all the different wires? I was thinking the cigarette lighter feed would do....?

Secondly does anyone know of a good place to put a subwoofer?
Ideally I want to keep as much boot space as possible, if not all of it.
Finally can anyone tell me if it's worth fitting speakers in the rear anywhere? The grills are in the panels but there's nothing behind them! There's not likely to be anyone in the back very often so would 2x6" in the doors and 2x4" in the dash with the possibility of an 8 or 10" sub in the back be enough?

Any advice in much appreciated,
Cheers,
Max

Default Speakers/Subs

Well depending on the type of sound you want, i have a geo tracker same as a sidekick. And i have put 16 speakers in it. A head unit with a flip out monitor. I hav a 15 inch rockford, i just took one of my rear seats out and put it behind the drivers side. other wise you could eisly put a shallow sub like a 12 in. or mabey two tens behind the seat. Just depends on how much money or time you want to put into the little beast.

excellent. well if your looking for storage room you can get by with making a shelf out of simple plywood and use a simple truckbox thatll house two 10s or 12s firing up & forward(wedge or behind seat style). real simple shelf, 2 upright boards about 1ft tall on each side, and 1 going across the top of those with subs on top. you can store alot in that cubby area. most all subs nowdays are very efficient and dont need alot of airspace.
if you really want something trick yet somewhat cheap, turn your rear door into a box. SONY has new slim subs that sound amazingly nice, push alot out, without needing much power. take off plastic panel, use it as template on MDF, cut wood same shape as panel. use templates to cut desired sub sized holes. wrap or paint in your choice of material. cut metal on inside of door just enough so subs can fit, and cover inside of door with dynamat or (cheaper)rubber trunk spray and foam fill- then mount MDF to door.
Just a couple ideas. unseen and still have good use of side panel speakers. i recently did that setup in a 95 kick. as soon as i can ill get some pics & post them. hope this helps
