Default 99 grand vitara problem

I have a 99 Grand Vitara that a couple of weeks ago started hesitating on me and seemed to lose power. It then shut off and wouldn't start. I took it to the garage and they replaced the cataltic converter. they said it was clogged. It ran well but didn't seemed to have as much power as before. Last night I drove it and when I returned and tried to start it it won't start. Any Ideas asto what it may be.

I had a pair of converters replaced years ago by a 3rd party on my 5L Mustang. Big mistake. Not all cat converters are created equal nor funtion at the same temp. The dyno test showed a reduction of 60 hp as compared to an earlier dyno. Good Luck!

that Cat fail is a SYMPTOM NOT A PROBLEM.

they should have told you that, they are not professional.
(not breakup cat, but slag ball cat) Breakup can happen by accident, not engine related.
when theyn melt , it can be caused by a host of reasons.
but they all boil down to just one reason.

you engine is throwing tons of raw gas and Air to CAT.
this melts it. every single time.

Are you Ignoriing the FLASHING CEL lamp? Flashing means, I AM DESTROYING the CAT.
a gross MISFIRE is #1 cause.

IS CEL on?

try a suzuki dealer .
buy a scan tool and pull codes (or a cheap OBD2 reader)
or rent a OBD2 reader from ANY good car parts store, all stores here have them.

any good mechanic on see an bad cat would examine the whole EMS (EFI) system
to be sure car was running right, compression test, timing, then Air Fuel mixtures and validate the correct operation of each engine sensor. (easy on you car)

that is my opinion, cheers
