1) When starting cold engine it runs rough but smooths out and runs fine after a few minutes.
2) I think I am only getting 15 MPG or less
maybe a third problem...
When depressing pedal it slowly sinks.
The fluid was dark and there was some air in the line but even after the bleed its still the same. Master cylinder? or, is there somethings else I dont know about these trucks?
first please disclose what you are driving. and what country?
year, displacement, number of valves in the head, tranny, 4wd./2wd and number of doors..
thin NFO really helps!
you master cyclinder is bad or any of the slaves are leaking like mad.
look at them if they are not leaking (the slaves) then the master is leaking inside and or outside and or down rear inside of fire wall.
master can can leak inside and only symptom is pedal slowly going to floor.
Bad mpg .
15mph ( US gallons? or Canadian Imperial gallons?)
no matter , 15 mpg is extremely bad.
about 1/2 normal.
top causes:
horrible tuneup state, bad rotor, bad cap, bad wires, bad plugs.
or
car is stuck in limphome mode which usually results in 15mpg.
Limphome can be caused by:
bad EGR circuit.
or blocked up CATCON
or someone rodded out the cat. (bashed its guts out)
or induction air leak.
is your CEL lamp on , KEY ON , NO START ?
yes?
now if above is true then iS CEL lamp OFF while running?
tune up. includes all plastic ignition parts and plugs and new air filter and new gas filter.
a bad gas filter will also wreck a good fuel pump. not cheap. either parts or labor.
any mods to the engine needs to be stated.
any non OEM parts, like custom induction or exhaust?
MPG?
fill to top the tank, dont overfill.
drive till almost empty.
fill again. same way same pump to avoid variances.
divide miles driven by amount of fuel used last fill.
eg: 300m div by 10g = 30 mpg. repeat and average, 10 tanks and that's mpg.
the averaging really gets rid of all errors.
is it 16valves or 8valves, (top of valve cover shouts 16 valves if is,if not blackpaint)
master cyl is toast. for sure. (assuming bleed to death)
yes, ECU has 2 main modes,
a full smart Fuel injecton system and
a back up failsafe (suz name) system called limp home by all others.
there is a big list of things that cause this.
but is usually a dead sensor.
the ECu must guess or mimic a dead sensor.
also must 92 ECU go bad and drop to the Failsafe chip.
in failsafe the CEL lamp does not GLOW when you turn on the key , no start.
it MUST GLOW , every day , you turn on the key or ECU is OUT TO LUNCH..
there is a speciall back up chip just for ECU death , a very crude device. it is.
Light on , no start. ( this is a self test feature, it speaks volumes but is simple)
if that fails, then there is no hope of gettting a light while running, see?
most 92's need new ECu caps.
Check that lite for us, KEY ON, see the dash panel light up. ahh but look at checkengine light, is IT ON NOW?
we gots to crawl before we run.
other symptoms of bad ECU:
will not hold idle speed with A/C on or Head lamps and Fan on MAX.
if rpm drops then IAC is not regulating idle.
this is usually just ECU stuck in limphome mode. ( even passing breath test, hahahah)
few more:
bad ,no horrible MPG.
Loss of power( some drive for years and never notice that loss or bought it like that)
is engine running rich or lean?
stink of unburned fule or is car bogging at diff. loads.?
