the escudo is a vitara.
the dealer understands, but locals dont know.
depend on what car you have in your country.

in the USA all cars are E03 or E33 cars, Fed. California Respective.

there are 12 Escudo models (or rather at least 12 export Escudo and some more called by different names.)

it all has to do with smog device.
and in some countries you have a huge selection of engines.
v6s , diesel, turbo, just to name three .

in other countries, you have other numbers designed specificaly for your country. see? I believe E means Export model?

then in other places , you country has no rules at all so you buy a
pure Japan local car.

this is hard to explain. ( what year, what engine 1.6L or 2.0L ?) more data please.
you car is not a car found in usa or europe .

it is made for export to specific countries. other than USA.
looking at the parts list it shows:
Asia
and Caribbean.

if you shop for parts outside those 2 areas the supplier may have never heard of an
ESCUDO.
it is however known as SQ416 .

our best choice is to go to a real Suzuki dealer ship , or on line.
tell them you have an ESCUDO and give the 5th line code on the body tag.

the tag is top center of engine fire wall.
the tag has many words on it but the bottom fith line has.

there are many models and export marketed Suzuki's.

there my be an ID tang on the drivers door frame.

look for the E number and this:

MODEL code: 9 DIGITS LLLNNNLNN

EG: LGK835A22

4TH AND 5TH, ARE THE ENGINE CODE. (83 in this example is 420 engine)
22 = market E22 <<< very important as is engine code.

if you want photo graph all the ID tags and post them.
others ask this same question. have the tag can help.
on others there is a VIN number , depends of year made and export market where and what ID is used. complex it is. USA uses VIN exclusivly.
so when you contact a USA source and you do not have a VIN , they will be unsure how to help you.
Each country has laws , regulating ID and smog, Suzuki just complies.

I hope this makes sense.
see next post for market codes.

Default market codes ( non usa ,non europe models)

the codes are on this page.

before buying parts,

you must id the car, the name is generally useless for identification.

Susuki , ok.
Escudo , not so good.

SQ416 or S420 , now that is better.

next is the VIN or Market ID tag.
located on top engine bay fire wall or on drivers door jam.

examine 4th and 5th number and the last 2.
carefully.
