Default Engine swop on auto trans

Hi all
Hope someone can give me some direction I have a 91 Vitara 4x4 with an auto box. The motor overheated badly and I am planning on replacing that, my question is around the torque convertor.
I have done engin swops on manual trans on other cars but not an auto, does the torque convertor come of with the engine or does it stay attatched to the Box and if so how do you get it off to remove engin?
Thanks for all the help you can give.
Leon

Default guess on your but here is comm. 3sp

on front bottom of bell housing see metal inspection plate.
remove that.

the remove part #8 in the six places shown.
while rotating crank.

now remove as normal but be sure to remove all parts connected to tranny first. (obvious but auto has oil tubes etc)

some cars have a flex plate here and you'd do that same to that in those cases.
