Default timing chain skipped a tooth

I am working on a 1998 sidekick with a 1.8 and the guide on the drivers side of the timing chain broke, and it skipped some teeth. I was wondering if the valves might have hit the pistons??

fix problem with chain , and pull compression test.
or

or
have guy with Fiber optic bore scope look (they rent em)

1 tooth may be ok.

is there any clearance between a open valve and a piston at top dead center in the 1.8 motors?

ahh, no.
dont think so on any 16v Sidekicks all interference I think.
Id call suzuki , 1.8l are not that common.
cant look it up in Gate rubber , cuz you have not belt.
the FSM might say this fact. But Suzi knows. just call parts and ask.

its just a guide.
fix guide , time engine, check compression. good, then be happy.

belt or chain, there is hope. , even with a bore scope , you cant find slightly bent valves.
so the proof is in the pudding (compression)
no free lunch.
