Default Could find many online reviews: 2189 curb weight

A quick search of online reviews for the '95 yields a curb weight of 2189. It wasn't clear if that was for the auto or manual trans, with/without AC, with/without PS, or 4wd / 2wd.

That might also include virtually no fuel or other accessories. I'd would use 2,300 lbs as a fair estimate for the soft top, 2 door tracker w/ 4x4.

1995 Geo Tracker Review Summary, Specifications, and More at InternetAutoGuide.com

I do see a lot of motor homes towing a little tracker, so there is evidence they work well for that. Note: Ensure you have followed the instructions on towing per the owners manual. friend of mine hooked up his jeep behind their motor home and forgot to take the jeep out of gear (manual trans). 200 yards later he was looking at a full replacement for the motor and trans. DOH!

2 doors can be light, with no top and no rear seat 2000 lbs.

every year almost every car and every year they get heavier.

sad it is.

2doors, 2wd , rag top. is lightest.

2000 to 2600 lbs. and 1000 more for grand vitara's
but the old kicks are light.

MPG-not

the owners manual explains towing to the last detail.

According to New Car Prices, Used Car Pricing, Car Reviews by Edmunds Car Buying Guide the 95 weights 2246 lbs. and the 00 weighs 2723 lbs.

NOTE: the owners manual in my 97 Tracker says when flat towing put the transmission in 2nd gear and the transfer case in neutral.

The transfer case is whats important I dont think it matters what gear your transmission is in as long as the t-case is in N because the t-case overides the tranny. MAKE SURE THE TRANSFER CASE IS IN NEUTRAL.

do you have to have a braking system for a tracker or is light enough to be towed with out?

I've towed Trackers with my 18000 lb RV without a supplemental brake system, but in wet weather, it can be a bit dicey. Most states require brakes on towed vehicles/trailers 2000 Lbs and above.
