Ok. So I have a 94 Geo Tracker. I hat:e it so I am trying to make it cool. I have a V8 400 engine that I want to put into it. My question is: Is that possible? And if it is, about how much would it cost me to do an engine swap of this magnitude? Any responses or opinions would be appreciated.

more expensive than buying a real Grand Vitara. $18k.
hahahaha
anything is possible ! , and you can go any speed, how much do you have to spend?
nothing else really matters.
I recommend finding a project on Craigs that someone didnt finish.
lots of the , and cheap or one with turbo that melted the pistons, when it popped lean.
Craigs, you can find anything on Criags , just be patient.
They are somewhat scarce now, but you can still get them. The small V8 was very light and stock configuration they still produced 150 hp and 220 ft-lb of torque. That's almost 3 times the torque of the 8valve motor. Also theres the 4.3L v6 beast that GM has been making for a long damm time.
what ECU are you running , "ECU sorted"
you tuned the ECU without the many Dyno runs to avoid the Lean BOOM , surprise?
how are you going to protect the engine, if any of the items that controlle AFR go haywire?
Knock sensor, monitored fuel pressures and evasive actions, EGT monitors,
there are many ways to protect the loss of fuel during boost.
OEM's this is all built into the ECU, it detects problems with turbo or AFR and it dumps fuel to cool the mix.
The ECU is a Microtech from Melbourne here in Australia, a friend of mine has wired in a few and he ended up getting it for me.
It is all good except for the cam angle sensor, which the ECU is not receiving a signal from. We are 99% sure it is in the wiring, they gave us wiring diagram's etc, however it is set up and as far as the ECU is concerned, the engine isn't turning over so it isn't giving us spark. The boys from microtech are onto it now, checking wiring diagrams etc.
The microtech is a very rich ecu, and the AFR is usually richer than what it tells you anyway according to people who use these ecu's. It also delivers more fuel if it detects a lean out so it's pretty safe.
We have changed the dizzie to check that but same problem. Once this all gets sorted I am taking it to a local dyno for the final tune. If all goes well, should be this weekend. (fingers crossed)
