Hey guys,
I blew my sidekick's engine and now I want to swap it out for another 1.6.
Since this is my first engine swap, I would like to know the basic things I should be aware of before starting anything. I do have a cherry picker and know how to use it, I just don't know how to use it on this specific vehicle.
If you are who your user name implies, you won't have any problems. Just follow the instructions in the manual. Its a simple conventional power train layout. The engine even comes with a pair of little lift rings on the intake and exhaust manifolds to hoist it out with.
Pretty simple really, have done it a couple of times. If you're worried, write everything down as you go ie electrical wires, brackets, put specific bolts in containers and mark where the came from. Leave two bolts in your bellhousing untill you're ready to lift, take your rad out etc.
Like James said too, grab a workshop manual and go for it.
