Default Geo Tracker, no dash lights

Hi. I am new to the group. Just purchased a 1995 Geo Tracker, 2 wheel drive, 5 speed with 132K. Gets roughly 32 mpg but just drove it after dark and no dash lights. No owners manual, no wiring diagram and it looks like the cover over the speeedomoter had been removed to try to fix. Other than this problem, it seems to be a great car.

Any help would be appreciated.

i presume you mean dash running lamps and not the idot lamps dead.

your dash dimmer is bad.
but it could have loose wires to it or all the lamps burned out in the dash, seen it. (mine)

have schematic, just hollar, if need it.

back ground illumination lamps in speedohead, 2 lamps either side of speedo cable entry.

it is fed from the dimmer device.
3 pins it has.
pin1 red/yell is battery (via fuse)
pin 2 ground. black
pin 3 is output . red/green

easy test.
pull control dev.
unplug it.
jumper pin 1 to 3 , lamps will glow brightly (park lamps must be on, ok)

if that test fails then the two lamps are bad.
if it passes the control device is bad or the power and groud to it are bad.

all you need is to pull the dimmer ,easy test.

cheers
