Default 4x4 question......

Which 4x4 system is stronger, manual hubs or auto freewheeling?
What are the pros and cons of each.

I don't think one is "stronger" than the other. The nice thing about manuals, other than having to get out to engage them, is that when you put them in, they're in, when you take them out, they're out. Autos you have to back up to release them. I guess, being kind of old school I prefer manual. You know what you're dealing with, you do it, it's done.

Post Manual vs Auto hubs

I have auto hubs in my 92 and wish I had manual. It's too easy to shift from 2wd to 4wd and back and hear the loud clunk when driving down the road. I've been lucky and didn't bust anything. -YET

i was always under the impression that the manuals were stronger. and honestly i dont remember why.

also it depends on how hardcore you are going to wheel. because i think that that might be one of the weaker links - the auto hubs - that break when seriously beat upon.
