Default What are all these dangling connectors?

My 91 Tracker seems to be getting back at me after 17 years of few problems. As per previous post, I just had my ECU replaced, and found that after getting it back from my mechanic my brake lights and hazards/indicators don't work. I went to check my fuses, and found all these dangling connectors not connected to anything. There is one unit with a tag on it that says 36733 56BAO containing 2 connectors that are connected onto a metal plate, one black connector with 9 pins, one white with 6 pins (but space for 10). The second dangling thing has three pins, connected to yellow, green and black wires (with brown dots on them). Anyone have any idea what these things are for? Thanks.

brakes lights are an easy troubleshoot for mechanic on on kicks they are classic, no suprises.

dangling, ?
need photos. for 100% id.
but under the steering column is 2 conns.
1 is ALDL (data link for factory scan tool) and the other is a diag port for the auto trans if you have it and for the RWAL which you do. Real Wheel Anti lock. Diag ports both. if loose then someone
messed with bracket mount and didnt put it back.

that number you gave is for ALDL , i just looked it up.

options. mirror adj. ? cruise control ? , many others you will find.
there are other connectors for other options you dont have.
all over car. on new cars they are profuse.
Cars are like Christmas trees that OEM and dealers hang toys on branches.

cheers,
PS: hope your new ECU goes 17 more happy years.

with $8 gas, id buy a new ECT and a new OXY, they will pay for selves. $100 for both. Always bad on 17 year cars and never replaced. The former can cause gross fuel wastage.

Thanks for info! I spent all night looking for them in pictures in my FSM and found that one of them was the RWAL connector. Thanks for info about the other. My book shoes that these 2 things (connected to a steel plate) should have the steel plate screwed into the ECU. Probably my mechanic (in replacing ECU) was in such a rush to get rid of me he didn't screw them back in where they belonged. Now for a silly question. These things are called 'connectors' but in my book, it looks like they don't connect to anything, One of my other posts talks about no brake light, no indicators. I have found (in my book) the stoplamp switch and turn signal (hazard) relay, but in the book it looks like they just dangle around without plugging into anything. When they say 'connectors' what does this mean? Are these just things that are connecting the wires the wires that come into them together? And are the pins just meant for circuit testing? Or do the pins plug into something else? I wrote a couple of other posts yesterday about this, so maybe this was answered elsewhere. But it seems the more I read, the more questions I have. Ugh.

connectors are just plastic blocks with pins for mating male and female harnesses to subcomponents .
be it, relays, ECU or anything and some are DLC , diagnostic logic connectors.

both of those conns, plug in to factory test equipment , (ALDL assembly line Diag Logic)

if you went to a real Suzuki or GM dealer , they would roll out the cart and plug in to these connectors, and say "everything on your car needs replacment" hahahahahah
below link explains the 3 major diagnosis connections and lamps.

Blinking-Lamp

1 hint the brakes:
if you are blowing the brake fuse one can unplug the Emergancy Light module so that it cant blow the fuse and the consentrate on fixing real brake lamps.

Brake fuse>>>> brake switch>> wires>>>> brake lamps >>> ground.
end to end path, very simple but if wires are cut or chaffed then it will blow fuses.

hint 2 .look under rear bumper for any funny trailer wiring ( non oem junk or hack jobs)

cheers.

brake lites.
some times, one must inspect every inch of the brake harness to find the short.
end to end. it is a simple circuit but it is convoluted in path.
