exhausts have negative back pressures pulsing, so if there is a leak .
hold a piece of paper over end of tail pipe, see it suck in,
yup,it does go negative. (proof)
so fix the crack, most likely that was it all along.
( also driving with CEL lamp on ,can cause late (retarded timing) which will cause overheating of the exhaust manifold ,cracking it.
never drive to far with a CEL ,until you check out how bad it is. (if possible).
when you buy that exhaust.
consider smog issue seriously ,
each state is different,
IM 240 tests (dyno)
plug and go (OBD2 jack test, then tank pressure , done)
and inspection , then plug and go. ?
ask friends, so you know the ground rules in your area.
make sure the oxy sensor mount is in place on the header and in the correct location.
tell tig guy to just make is work for 1 day. he'll know what to do.
nothing fancy.
these welds can be real good if done , preheated. but that is hard, on car.
with out melting other areas.
good luck passing the test.
cheers
CEL IS ON:?
PS: this is a 98, so pulling battery will not fool any inspector, in fact he can see you did that and will fail you.
you must clear all the codes and then run car so each monitor is completed (1 can be running (not completed) still and pass)
There are 3 major issues:
1: cel lamp test command passes ( unplugged CEL lamp is illegal so they test it)
2: All (most ) monitors must be completed .
3: No CEL , live or pending.
the exact rules are dictated by eacy state, above is general Fed guidelines. (but typical)
...we just picked this tracker up a couple months ago
now I'm fixing all the loose ends...
the previous owner drove it for years with the cel light on, dealer said "don't worry about it" (they coudn't fix it)...
Ha ha ha! LOL! Don't you just love previous owners!? Last month I bought a 97 X-90 and the PO had driven it for years with the CEL light on. I guess at emissions inspection time he purchased just enough in repairs to qualify for the waiver. When I tried to transfer the title it failed emissions, but I paid enough in repairs to get the waiver. But I didn't drop it at that point. I did finally get the light off, and will be taking it in shortly for another emissions test (doesn't need to be tested again for 2 years since I got the waiver, but I want to see if it'll pass). Also been catching up on all the maintenance neglected by POs (replace timing belt, water pump, crank seal, cam seal, valve cover gasket, & more..!).
Hello!
I have a suzuki forenza and also have a P0134 code. I don't know where the #2 Sensor Circuit is located that says Bank 1 Sensor 1. Thank you in advance for someone that can tell me the location.
