This is such a bad idea and should only be done if necessary as a last resort. First of all its unsafe as exhaust fumes will get in the cab. It will wont really have any positive effects. Exhaust will enter the engine bay and increase the engine bay temperature it will contaminate the intake air, it will accumulate moisture and frost in the engine bay and all underneath the car accelerating any rust and clog the air filter sooner, because theres no catalytic converter or muffler there is nothing to arrest any sparks or unburnt fuel and is a fire hazard, especially if you have any leaks or drive off road, because of the sever reduction in exhaust back pressure the engine will perform worse other than free revving quicker, you'll lose the EGR functionality and while it may sound cool at first it looses its appeal quickly and is very loud and vibrates the whole cabin. I have tried this and the results were undesirable.
very good answer:
BTW: the CO (carbon MonOxide) kills by putting you to sleep while you do not feel it happening. (insiduious) it then renders the Red blood cells from doing there job.
so , all attempts to revive you will fail.
add , the Oxygen sensor would instantly slam to LEAN (max oxy)
then ECU would go as rich as it could muster. (to match the OXY)
making even more "CO". about 10 times more.
EFI + open Exhaust = nasty
some NA race cars use TPS only sensor engine, no OXY!
that's how they do it, when you see dry stacks + EFI.

This is not always true. Most modern race cars use MAP sensor and/or MAF but really high power engines (turbocharged engines must use it) prefer MAP sensors because they don't restrict the intake air flow but its negligible. But even most race cars don't use open headers only the highest strung.
yah, i was only talking Drag with straight out the head pipes.
Alpha mode. would never make a blanket statement about any racing, just calling attention to fact that there are many ways of skinnng any cat, (minus the cat , ahahahaha)
as most know, you can tune it any way you want today.
i playing with , white Lightning now, Ethanol.
Id like to see an oxgen sensor hanging is space out on a coat hanger and a AAA fuel car.

for kicks older than 93 (non from calif. code 33 smog sticker)
will run ok if you remove the Oxygen sensor.
this forces the input of the oxy port to 0.45 v which is perfect mx.
ecu will do its best based on MPA and RPM. not perfect but ok. (experimental !)
on 94 on, the EGR will fail due to the EGR MOD finding no back pressure, the ECU will discover this and make you very unhappy with RICH and RETARDED timing.
so down grade to older ECU.
bet your neigbors just loves dry stacks (boat jargon band on most lakes today)
The ECU works as a system , finding out how it all works together is tricky.
the above is in the FSM.

Way Way back when I was in the army, I had free access to some kind of cleaning solvent that we used in the small arms repair where I worked. I had a 34 Nash coupe straight 6 that I put flexible exhaust pipes on, one for each cylinder, and ran them down out beside of, and to the rear of, the front fenders. I used to fill my gas tank with that cleaning solvent, whatever it was, and head for town. When I'd let up on the gas, it sounded like gunfire, and flames would shoot out of those pipes. When I got out of the army, I drove the car to a junkyard and sold it for $9.00. One thing I might be wrong on, it may have been a 36 Graham that I'm talking about instead of the Nash. I had both of those cars during that time. Tracka96
