Default Changed timing belt; now engine makes ticking noise

Last week I had the timing belt changed in my 1997 Suzuki X-90; my mechanic also changed the camshaft and crankshaft seals, and the valve cover gasket. Now, when the X-90 is cold it generates a fairly loud ticking/clicking sound at low speed. Once she has warmed up (after just 4 or 5 minutes), the ticking sound disappears. Is this anything I should be concerned about?

At a at minimum, I'd inform the person / company who changed the belt and have them evaluate the noise. They may have mis-adjusted / improperly installed a component.

Did you change oil viscosity after the engine work? If so, that could cause the new noise. Stick w/OEM recommended. Proly 5W-30 like most Zuki's. Check your service manual.

The ticking you're hearing might not be originating from the valve train. The ticking noise your describing sounds like a commonly mis-diagnosed faulty ERG solenoid. Try disconnecting the connectors on the two solenoids mounted on the front of the intake manifold. If ERG solenoid's isn't the concern you may want to recheck the valve lash (witch doesn't hurt to do after a few days anyway) the lash specs and instructions can be found in past threads.

I was planning on taking it into the mechanic next week, so I'll have him check it out. At the end of January I had the EGR solenoid replaced, but I guess it is possible they installed a defective one. I've only had this vehicle 3+ weeks; just trying to catch up on the maintence that the previous owner neglected.

with a $3 mechanics stethoscope (looks like dr. type minus end)
one can probe the engine and prove where that sound is coming from.
you can proble the solinoides , why guess.

harbor freight sells them for $3 and any auto store sells it for $5-10
but you can just use a metal pipe to ear, but that can be painful with shaking engine.

just stay clear of fan. ok.

just find the main component that is failing.
engine, other objects there in the engine bay.

just look and be creative. listen over and over and suddenly
bingo. The valves are making noise or there is noise on tbelt cover area....

good day.
