dash board light - 1991 escudo

i have a 1991 escudo and just had my catalytic converter removed this morning. i notice just tonight that there is a dash board light that came on which wasn't there before.

the light appears on the right side of the warning lights and it looks like a resonator with 5 wavy arrows going up. does the light come up because i have the catalytic converter removed?

another thing, the mechanic has removed the heat shield from the exhaust manifold as i will have to have new extractors replace of the cracked exhaust manifold.

on some ECU's (not all) this is what will happen. (varies by country !)
give us a clue , on country. (some old canadian ecu's ignore cat rip)
the EGR circuit may fail , because the EGR modulator , must detect back pressure.

if this occurs, the ECU will force the engine into open loop (failsafe) and burn gas at about 15mpg ( USA gallons not Imperial gallons ).



for others reading this,this applies to pre 94' kicks only.

from 94 forward all kicks will go to failsafe. ( and all california cars 88 forward)
prior to that , there is some chance that ECU will be happy. (cept Cal cars)

the crack in the exhaust , messes up the OXY sensor. forcing engine into very rich condition. so you might have fixed 1 rich, problem and replaced it with a new problem.

the other lamps are

a high beam lamp D shaped and has rays coming out.
the other is day lamp driving lamps are on, it has a sumular lamp with rays but is slightly
different and is not blue in color.

the top center lamp is 4WD , not clear in photo.
