mystery lamp and cat rip.
on some ECU's (not all) this is what will happen. (varies by country !)
give us a clue , on country. (some old canadian ecu's ignore cat rip)
the EGR circuit may fail , because the EGR modulator , must detect back pressure.
if this occurs, the ECU will force the engine into open loop (failsafe) and burn gas at about 15mpg ( USA gallons not Imperial gallons ).
for others reading this,this applies to pre 94' kicks only.
from 94 forward all kicks will go to failsafe. ( and all california cars 88 forward)
prior to that , there is some chance that ECU will be happy. (cept Cal cars)
the crack in the exhaust , messes up the OXY sensor. forcing engine into very rich condition. so you might have fixed 1 rich, problem and replaced it with a new problem.
