Default Soft top rear window broken

Had below freezing temp for a few days. My rear window snapped and is badly broken now. Wondering if it's possible to just get the window without getting the whole top replaced. Not sure what brand/manufacturer soft top I have. There's an upolstery place here where I live, was told they can make a replacement window, but was also told the shop charges quite a bit. I've seen new soft tops on ebay, but no idea of the quality these tops. Any info, tips, ideas on fixing or replacing this would be appreciated. Also, if anyone could tell me how to figure out which top I have would also help.

it's a 96, but I'm not even sure if it's a factory top or aftermarket. I'll look at JC and see if it looks like what I got.

I bought one and Besttop is not even close to the quality of the OEM top. The Besttop feels like cheap rubber. The complete OEM top is 1285.00 for the Tracker. The rear window is 363.49 (pt# 30015067 ). You may find it cheaper from Suzuki.
The above reason is why I purchased a hard top + it's warmer.

well, looking at JC Whitney I can't tell since they have no real pics to look at. My top doesn't seem like cheap rubber so I'm gonna guess it's OEM. If I could find the plastic for the window I might try just sewing the old zipper and surround to it and see how it turns out.

There are other people who sell quality softtop, but they are in the 800.00-900.00 range. I did a Google search and found several. With the Besttop, the flaps that are pinned between the door frame and body were too short and let in noise and cold air.
If you have the OEM top, it would be hard to sew because of the thickness of the top material. I am all for DIY, but sometimes I go to a pro. It would take an industrial sewing machine to do this correctly.

I never would have imagined that just the rear window would cost so much. I see on a packing slip that came with the tracker that the previous owner bought thread, bobin, window quarter panel, zipper, plastic retainer, and fabric. It appears that it all came as a kit from the looks of the packing slip. The packing slip doesn't say where it was purchased from though. The upholstery shop here in town said they don't do tops or windows.

Bear95, how much did you pay for your hard top?

I purchased my hardtop from Rallytop and it was close to $1200.00 including shipping and a roof rack which added 175.00. The vendor is in Gardina CA and he ships by Conway Freight to your front door. I do see these on ebay and craigs list from time to time, but you don't know if they are cracked or damaged. The 96-98 have to have a weather seal gasket installed around the rear section where the top fits on and it is included with the new hardtop. There are several company that make hardtops, I just liked the back section of the Rallytop better because the rear window is parallel with the tailgate and I don't have any problem with frost forming on the glass.
The front section fits behind the front seats when removed. Some of the others require you to strap the secton on top of the rear. This could be a + or -. The whole time that I have owned mine I only had the top off once because it is a pain in the butt to zip and pull and fold and zip...ect. Now I just take off the front section, open up the rear window and get all the fresh air & sun that I want without all the flapping and slapping of the softop.
I know that a hardtop is expensive, but it will never rot from the sun and made my little truck so much better.

Default Rear window plastic

The guys at aabestco sell complete tops and also just the plastic for the rear window (comes in sheets). You'll need to have the thing tailored to your truck; piece trimmed and the zippers installed.
A local upholster shop should be able to do this work.

I've never bought from them, but they were recommended on another list.

Rear window kit =>> AA Best Co.

Plastic sheets =>> AA Best Co.

Good info Mark. That's one thing that I like about this forum is that you can find help when you need it.
