Well Im new to the boards.

Im the original owner of this vehicle and its been good to me.

I still have a check engine light on have had it on for about 6 years now

Recently I did a tune up wires, plugs, cap and rotor, full oil change. replaced alternator, startet, clutch, cable, changed sensor,replaced the entire stick shift because the spring shattered in the shift.
need to change egr( cant find it, havent looked for it) and fuel filter ( cant find it, havent looked for it).

I added a bottle of techron to the engine and seem to work great, when I Added a second bottle of techron the car ran much better.

however, I think that the techron removed whatever gunk was keeping the head gasket sealed because its leaking oil from the Gasket.

HAS anyone ever removed the intake manifold and head to replace the gasket is there instructions anywhere on this forum that I may follow?

Anything I need to know and should replace while Im in there?


Im no mechanic, but I have done 90% of the work on my car with the exception of the 60,000 mile dealer recommended.

Go to Ebay,,,search for available Factory Service Manuals. I bought a used one,,excellant condition for $37.50 delivered to my front door. Best investment ever, as I recently bought a used 1995 Geo Tracker, 4x4, 5 Spd with aprox 120,00 miles. As soon I received the manual, I replaced belts/hoses,timing belt w/tensioner/adjusted the valves,all fluids/ corrected my "Check Engine Lamp On: situation, as well as a transmission leak, that was nothing more than a missing rubber plug on the upper portion of the case,,fixed the inoperative rear gate latch,,and the minor list gones on.......With the FSM, a few simple hand tools and patience, you will be surprised as to what you can accomplish without the necessity of a high price repair shop and diagnoistic tools.......
