Talking ? on braking system

Suzuki Sidekick 89 body\94 engine. I start the vehicle and the first time I try to brake I cannot, won't push down. After a few pushes, it is just fine, no problems. It doesn't happen every time either.

My '91 Tracker has similar symptoms... I'm thinking its the brake booster. Never does it when warm, only when the truck is still cold. After the first 2-3 minutes and a few pushes on the brake pedal, it works normally. Local parts store wants $130-160 for a rebuilt power booster unit. I'd like to fix the issue, but I need to be sure this is the fix.

When the pedal cannot be pushed down its because the booster is damaged. So you gotta put a good/new/used booster.

Talking sidekickgal brakes?

Awwww darn... Just got done with the whole transmission issue.

Haven't done much in brake department and hoping for an inexpensive solution..lol..which of course there may not be.

Talking Mech told me

Well this mechanic has been repairing Sidekicks for well over 15 years.. He said this brake issue is actually a common problem. He told me to check the check valve on the vacuum line off the master cylinder. if anyone was curious.

Talking that is what it is

Thanx for cross reference info.. I checked the vacuum line on the master cylinder and it has no pressure release...so yep, brake booster.

Fortunately there is a place called Hawk's Suzuki in my neck of the woods..great deals on used and those hard to find pieces of everything having to do with suzuki samurais and sidekicks( hope this is ok to mention on this forum).
