Default Engine miss fire 1996 16V ?

Another question for the forum...My Tracker starts perfectly and idles up correctly when cold. After the engine warms up the idle speed drops back to normal RPM and at the exact moment the engine is at normal idle, my engine cuts off, or misses for a finger snap and then it is fine. I have watched the tach and it happens so fast that it doesn't reflect the event. The engine runs perfectly after that. I have no codes and great gas milage.
Thanks for the help,
Bear

assuming your are willing to reset radio and alarms, or remote starts and imoblizers , and whatnaught, then pull the NEG battery cable which resets ECU (partially) for 30sec.
put back.
battery cables clean, and those very important grounds from ECU to the engine block.
look for black wires, clean them and put them back on, there studs.

if you do not have the passwords to the radio and all these bells and whistes then
my advice will only make things worse. ( on on car i have this feature can be defeated inside the radio (head end unit).

Read you op's manual on each item, carefully to understand what you got.
some radios , lock out when you kill the memory power lead (battery)
same with alarms ,etc.

depends on what is more imporatant to you driving or using passive devices.
best wishes.

lots of 4doors have lots of passives.

passives =anything that doesnt make the driveline work.

Mine is a base model soft top so the only bell or whistle I have is A/C and 4X4. I will check for bad ground wires, although I have new battery cables.
Thanks,
Bear

just want to be sure
is this a 1.6 liter or 1.8liter sport. (big diff)
any way , when was last tune up.
cap,rotor,plugs and wires, 16v
or
plugs on a 1.8l ( no dizzy on 1.8)

if your loosing spark for 1 second car will buck real hard, especially under load.

if idling it would wind down, then up. no buck.

96/97 they made to different Engines. (in USA)

what ever it is , it most likely will get worse.

intermittants are the scurge of man kind, very tough.

It is a 1996 16V, had a full tune-up (Cleaned MAS with CRC cleaner, new o2 sensor, air filter, plugs, rotor , cap, wires, PVC valve) 6months ago and a new EGR valve (all pipes and ports cleaned, even the one you have to reach thru the throttle body). It runs perfect other that this quick finger snap length stumble. If I start it up cold and drive on the express way, then it just warns up with no problem. But if I start it and it warms up around town, and if I am sitting at light when the idle slows down (warm engine) then I notice the event.
I guess that I am worried that it will stop on me.
