Default Cleaning EGR tube 1.6 16v

I used a 18 ga. single strand insulated wire approx. 3 to 4 times the length of the tube. Push the wire through approx. 1/2 way (use throttle body cleaner as lubricant if necessary) then tie a tight knot in the wire at the center and pull back and forth to scour out the carbon. I also sprayed throttle body cleaner in the tube and let it set to dissolve the residual. Whoever suggested the gun cleaning brushes for cleaning the openings, it worked great (30 or 40 cal.). Thanks, Good luck & Merry Christmas, Dave

I found what I believe to be 14 gauge safety cable to work awesome! What I did was slightly stray the ends of it in an outward pattern, and I first let the throttle body cleaner sit, then shoved it in and out, and then attached it to my drill, and rotated it in and out. Cleaned the passages VERY VERY well. I may have pics of it too since I took pics of my engine dismantled.

Yeah, I forgot to mention letting the throttle body cleaner sit; also finished by blowing out with compressed air. Good job with multistrand 14 ga. wire.
