Default Trans Swap

Is the 4-speed auto from the 4-door sidekick 4x4 able to be swaped into a 95 tracker 2-door 4x4 with a 3-speed auto. I'm looking to get better gas mileage. I know the 4-door uses the 03-72LE -A44DE trans, its also in the kia SPORTAGE. If i found one would it just go in or does it need to be adapted to fit

mileage between two autos with working lock up will give same mileage. ( mostly)
Now try 5sp manual , now there is economy.

1- weight of veh.
2- huge engine ( old ones have low power and economy and new are bigger and 5 mpg worse. add auto to the mix and even worse.)
3 - size of right foot. ( tests show this can be 37% of wasted economy)

keep in mind that Automatics turn energy in to heat, the more you flog them the worse the heat. Just watch what happens pulling a very heavy boat or trailer, the fluid gets so hot it expands and leaks out. (a bigger oil cooler stops that, but not the wasted heat).
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only converted.

Many people all over the world will switch back to manuals in the next 10 years, (maybe computer controlled manuals?).
gas will not get any cheaper, nor will demand wane.

I'd hate to see you spend more to much money chasing a ghost.
I believe each company has an engineering manual telling how efficient each tranny is , under loaded conditions.

I'm going lean burn and low rolling resistance tires.
Already got my dog engine. 50hp, but very effiecient.

if this works out I will switch to a fancy car with my new learned tricks ( I hope).
my kick is a mad experiment, torture box.

ymmv,
happy holiday.

Modern Electric, Hybrid Electric ... - Google Book Search

see fig 9.1
while have more gears helps, the torque converter will slip like crazy thru all the gears .
then there is the 1.7kw consumed at a red light,
put it in neutral and save gas.
no one does.
