Default General Info Help Needed

Hello. I just purcchased a 96 tracker for my son for xmas. Its his first vehicle.

2 question.

What RPM should the engine be at when cruising at 65? This one seems really high. It is an automatic. I could just be used to newer cars.

Also, the transmission shift handle is torn. I want to replace it before I give it to him, but I have no clue where to get a new one. Any suggestions?

Thanks

At 100KMh or 62MPH it should be between around 3000RPM and 4000RPM depending on weather the torque converter is locked up or not.

My 96 with a 3 spd auto is right about 3100 RPM at 55 MPH on a level highway, which is what the book calls for. Tracka96
