Default Should I even consider this??

OK guys...I have a 1993 Geo Tracker conv with the 8V engine in it. 116K on the clock.

I also have a 1997 Suzuki Sidekick 4-door JX model (4dr) with NO motor in it, but the rest is complete (for $300 I couldn't pass it up).

My question is, can I take the 1.6 out of my Geo, and put it in the 4-door with minimal suffering? Will I need to change out the ECU in the kick for the one in the Tracker? I know the rigs were underpowered to begin with, but the 8V is peppy in my Geo, even loaded up. I don't care about 0-60 times, If I did, I wouldn't drive a Suzuki!

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Gary

You could do it you'll have to change the ECM and harness. The 97would have had a 1.8L so other things like the fuel line might be different. It will be severely underpowered.

Would it have the 1.8 even in the JX model?? I was under the impression it was still the 1.6. This is not the 'sport' model...?

Thanks!

harness (both) , ecu from 93 to 96 , all sensors ! (big deal)

then there are wiring issues on gauges and a host of things in the 96 that would be dead.

you didnt say what tranny ?
issues:
the 96 has many options. ABS? >> serious.
cruise control? ( forget it)
A/C ? ( nah throw away)

the Manual tranny ECU can not control the Auto.
will 93 dizzy clear fire wall? ( sledge hammer it)

I did not check engine mounts.

if ugly is not a problem it is possible.

I presume yours is not a SPORT ( 1.6L is yours 97 )
