Talking Help me with Differential!!!

Hi!

I have Geo Tracker 1994 (Two wheel drives) and Suziki Vitara 1992 (4x4). And I wonder if this both models has the same rear differential???

Becuase my Tracker is in a good shape and the vitara has totally demaged body, so I wand my Tracker to have front axle from Vitara, and thats why I wonder if this two models have the same rear differential, not to have problems.

Please help me anyone. Save me from spending a lot of time on this and heving no result.

Misha

So if I take from Vitara:

A. Gear box;
B. Transfer Case;
C. Front Axle.

and put it on my Tracker it will work or not?

I know that gear box is different, but I will change it, but if rear axle differentials are same on Tracker and Vitara, then I don't have to replace rear axle on my Tracker.

Thank you for trying to help me people.

The 92 has a 10 bolt rear and the 94 has a 12 bolt rear end. I'm not sure of the difference. I think the 12 bolt is a LSD. But they are different.

I'm not sure what market your referring to but I think in North America

1988-1998 Sidekick
1999-2005 Vitara / Grand Vitara
2006+ 2G Grand Vitara

Other markets called the Sidekick a Vitara from the get go and they might have used different electronics. But I don't really know. Maybe some international members can clarify this.

not knowing the country , makes this hard, but here goes. (diff places ,diff names)
front and rear , ratio must be the same (at risk of stating obvious , blush)
FSM and EPC do not say ratio's. Enter the hacking zone.....

on each car
raise 1 rear wheel, put car in neutral.
put chauk mark on Diff front pinion flange. and off ground tire.
as you turn pinion, count pinion turns it takes to make 1 full turn on tire.

compare car 1 with car 2. if same , ok. if not back to the bone yards.

other then pulling the members and counting teeth .?

the people that know this, are on another forum. the ZUK rock crawlers all have a list for
gears.
google, sidekick rock crawlers.

PS: EPC SHOWS (92 range)
DIFF gear sets, on year, and MT and AT , there are some match up on 94/95 given same tranny.
