Programming instructions sought for '98 Sidekick JLX Sport

Acquired two B23AT54 (XT54A) remote control units (my OE unit finally failed), and need programming instructions: Are they identical (or similar) to the Grand Vitara's, that appear elsewhere on this site?

This is what I received from the eBay seller from whom I acquired one of the replacement remotes, which I'm a little reluctant to attempt without authoritative endorsement, since the process seemly inordinately complicated (c'mon, folks, 20 times???):

"instructions:
to program the remotes.
open the hood, get a 10mm spanner, and losen the negative terminal and take it off.
step 3,
now put the negative back on and within 20 seconds go inside the car,
and start turning the ignition from 'lock' to 'on' (not start)
you need to do this (20) twenty times.
ending with it in the 'off' position.
if you do it right the park lights will flash 20 twenty times.
now all you have to do is press the button on each remotes and your done.
congrats now you have central locking and an immobilizer"
