Default Ignition/ignitor module needed for 1990

My 1990 tracker died the other day and I have a mechanic looking at it now. He said the coil to distrubutor wire was burned out, the dist cap cracked and the ignitor module in the distributor seems to be shot. He can't locate one locally so I thought I'd ask you experts for leads in finding one

that igntior is a huge transistor and when it shorts, the wires burn up.
common.
that part is $274 at the dealer and near same at Rockauto.com

It is an outragous cost. find a pull , at a wrecker, Just ask for the whole coil assembly off the fire wall and pray for ignitor to come with, or better yet ask to do PICK A PART.

but , someone here might have one.
I will look for you.

oem PN: is 33370-64B10 (but says part is for 91 in EPC ?)

It's inside the Distributor -- I guess it's also referred to as the pick up coil. He called hte local Chevy place and they said it's not longer available. In searching the web, for ignition distributors all of them sell the distributor without the module. Tomorrow will be calls to the local yards to see if I can find a wreck

Default photo of Beck part 1800249

look

it can be tested insitsu. 2 wire plug on DIZZY.

Yours is wired directly to the Ignition coil , unlike 91 on . (ecu only conn)
One can place a voltmeter on the DIZZy wires and test as below:

ONe wire is 12vdc Ignition power with key on. Black/White.
Dizzy body must be grounded to work.
the other wire goes to the Ignition coil. (2 pin plug)
it may be brown white? ( and goes to noise supressor too)
place a volt meter on THIS wire,
RED meter lead to this wire and black lead onto ground (engine block).
now crank engine , and THIS wire just go UP to 12v and down to near zero
each time a piston gets near TDC (top) over and over as engine cranks.
take out plugs to ease starter load if you want.

Do not forget to check primary of coil for low resistance or coil is OPEN.
if coil opens , DIZZY wont fix it.
my coil reads Close to 1 ohm (0.8 ohms exactly) use low ohms scale.

dont touch spark wires while doing this. be careful.

You see , your car simulates old points, with Points simulation circuit.
