Default Gear knob removal??????????

Hi, does anyone know how to remove the Gear knob from a 94 Vitara (manual 5 speed).

I tried just unscrewing but it doesn't want to budge, i've broken gear linkages before by being a bit agressive doing this! lol does it unscrew? maybe mine's a bit tight?

Any help would be appreciated, cheers

Clemo! Did u manage to unscrew it? I've got a 97 Vitara and want to do the same thing. It seems as if it's locked in rather than screwed in. So no matter which way I turn it, it just rotates and remains.

Yeah, sorted, gear select just unscrews and 4x4 select has a screw in it and pops off. I've put some pink ones on for the MRS!!!!
