Angry Really getting mad at this one!

92 Sidekick, 16v engine auto trans. Idles rough, will rev to about 1/4 throttle, then bog out. Replaced MAF, TPS, plugs, wires, cap rotor, coil. 42 PSI fuel pressure, 180 -195 PSI compression, unhooked exhaust at manifold, conveter looks fine inside. Timing is right on (belt and ignition). Before I unhooked exhaust, it would die at 1/2 throttle, now just does not increase RPM. CEL is on, but shorting the diag. conn. doesn't do anything (no flashes). Should I just pour gas over it and set it on fire?

Check your ECM, my 1991 did the exact same thing when it went, it's behind the dash by the driver's knee. You need to remove the speaker from that side and it'll be right behind it.

There are quite a few threads about this, ECMs from 1991/93 have a design flaw that makes the capacitors crap out after a while.

After I changed my ECM (got it from masterkit1.com but they're available anywhere really) it fixed all the problems.

About your CEL being it, and no code, that's textbook ECM failure.

Good luck.

your are :
place jump on diag conn.
then KEY On , no start
look for code 12

it it doesnt flash code 12 ( or some others) < stick with this !!
then it is dead. ( btw code 12 = no CAS pulses = normal)

only other possibility is missing power in the pins.
see my dead ecu page. (very common failure)
many kicks went to grave yard , just for $70 fix, sad really.

DYI: for $10

ECU
